5. The split to the hinge area is glued, filled and reinforced with two brass screws.

6. The exterior of the box is waxed and polished three times.

7. A pattern is made from brown paper and glued to the fabric before cutting out.
9. The balsa edging is covered in fabric and new hardwood compartments are fitted.

8. The edges of the box are lined with balsa wood to give a neat finish.
10. The lid is lightly padded with cotton wadding and linen loops to hold a ribbon, are tacked in place.

13. The base is lined with paper and felt protector pads are pressed onto the corners.

14. A ribbon is threaded through the loops on the lid.
|
15. The box is finished and has gone to its new home.
